What do we record?

We examine the documents and legal implications. You do not need to work out the arrangement yourself beforehand. We will agree on which missing documents we can request.

A check mark means you have prepared this item. It does not mean that the office has already checked the documents or that your file is complete.

Your questions, step by step

A legal question becomes clearer when it is understood what you wish to decide. Together we agree on what needs to be investigated and which documents will assist.

Why do I go to the notaire for this?

The notaire can examine a defined legal question based on facts and complete documents. Agree on who the client is and for what purpose the advice will be used.

How do I present a professional advice request?
  1. Describe the decision for which advice is needed.

  2. Provide evidence, previous advice and ongoing deadlines.

  3. Agree on scope, fee and delivery and then discuss the conclusions.

How does this proceed and how long does it take?

The timing is adjusted to the question, missing data, and desired decision. State a hard deadline at the first contact.

Which documents should I provide to the notaire?
What does the notaire do and investigate?
  • What falls within the assignment and who may issue instructions?
  • Which facts are proven and which remain uncertain?
  • Which sources and rules apply?
  • Which choices and follow-up steps are still required?

We agree on which searches the office will conduct and which information you, your bank or another expert will provide.

What do I check before the next step?

Check that the facts and assumptions are correct. Make clear which choices still need to be made by the client or another adviser.

What else must I arrange afterwards?

Record who will undertake the implementation. New facts may give reason to adjust the advice.

Which practical tips can help me?

Provide complete agreements with annexes and amendments. Separate clauses may give an incorrect picture.

What do these words mean?
Mandate
the assignment or authority to act for someone.
Assumption
a premise that still needs to be confirmed.
Where can I find more explanation or help?

You do not have to phrase your question in legal terms. Tell what concerns you, what you want to arrange and if an important date is approaching.

We will look together at the next step. We agree in advance on how the office will assist you and what costs are involved.
