Tell us what is happening and why you are now considering it. You do not yet need to know which deed or arrangement you need. You can schedule a meeting at the office, email your question or call.

What will you bring?

Do you have a will, marriage contract or mandat de protection extrajudiciaire? Bring it with you. Note who belongs to your family and provide a simple overview of your assets and debts. Especially write down your question: what do you want to maintain, change or avoid?

Review the advisory conditions and costs. The costs of a deed are calculated separately.

YOUR QUESTION DESERVES ATTENTION

online?

For an initial question, a short description suffices. Do not include your national register number or bank details.

CLEAR ABOUT YOUR ADVICE AND THE COSTS

Clear agreements about your advice in advance.

Before we get started, we establish the assignment and the cost arrangements together. If during the process it becomes clear that additional work is necessary, we will discuss this with you first.

We discuss with you which question we will investigate and which documents are needed for this. This ensures clarity about what the assignment includes and how we determine the fee.

PREPARE YOUR MEETING

What do I ask the notaire?

Start with what matters to you. Perhaps you want your partner to continue living there, help a child, or keep enough money for yourself. You may also say what you are uncertain about. These questions help to move from a general explanation to your own situation.

Click on a question for an initial explanation or practical tip. You do not need to have an answer to everything yet.

  1. What happens to my home and money if I do not make any changes?

First ask for an explanation of the existing situation. Perhaps part of your wish is already arranged.

  2. What does this agreement change today, in case of a separation and at death?

Have each moment explained separately, who is the owner, who decides and who may have to pay something.

  3. Which choices remain with me and can I still change my mind later?

Ask what you give up and what you keep. Not every arrangement can be changed in the same way.

  4. What does this mean for the people I want to protect?

Also discuss who must cooperate, who bears the costs and what happens if someone dies earlier.

  5. Which documents are still missing and what does the next step cost?

Ask what is needed for a well-founded answer and agree on the assignment clearly in advance.

RECOGNISED IN PRACTICE

You want to better protect your partner or family, but there is already a deed. Bring that along and note what has changed since signing. This way the conversation can start from your existing arrangements.

Frequently Asked Questions

FROM READING TO PREPARATION

Already a first answer.

Must I first find all the documents?

You can already ask your question with what you have. Note which agreements you remember and what has changed since. Using the checklist on this page, you can see what to gather and what still needs to be discussed with the office.

How do I prepare a conversation with my relatives?

First explain what you want to achieve or avoid. Give everyone space to express expectations and practical limits. Note what you agree on and which questions remain open, so that the conversation also takes into account who bears the consequences.

What if I am unsure between different solutions?

Write down for each option what you hope to achieve and what you do not yet understand. Bring existing documents. The consultation is meant to compare possibilities and consequences with your own situation before making a choice.
